Spring break crafts

We love teaching our kids basic things they will need to know in life. Luckily our girls enjoy being involved with most of what we do. Anywhere from working in the kitchen to my craft work. They ask about our hobbies/ projects, and try to get in involved as well.

We have been talking about putting make a dinner on our oldest weekly chore list. To help with development of life skills for her. Which is really important for any child, but we want to make an extra effort into this since she have some learning disabilities.
Don't think we have gone off the deep end thinking we are just going to put her in the kitchen to cook everyone a meal. lol Oh no this is still in the planning stage at the moment. She already helps out a lot.
What I think we will end of doing is asking her to choose two thing for said month that she wants to cook (or learn to cook) for dinner. And we will be right beside her watching and helping. We want to help her be more confident in herself and her skills.

All that being said, my girls have been chomping at the bit to get to sew again (or for the first time for our youngest daughter). I have been thinking what could they do with me sitting beside them, that is small but useful. Oh yeh! I have foodie fabric left over and I have insulbright and cotton batting. Ding Ding... Hot pads for the kitchen.

(This is just a close up picture of the quilt, for reference to the foodie fabrics).

This will help build sewing skills (they may or may not need them when they get older), help make something for the house, and help build pride in something they have made.

Hopefully we can get these done this spring break. We do have a lot on our plate at the moment due to some family emergencies that we have had. But hey everyday day is an adventure.
