Fun with kids Halloween Funkins

I have ran really behind on posting on my blog. So today is my day to try to get to get it all caught up. LOL
Back in October I had this bright idea that i was tired of buying pumpkins every year just to throw them away. I know its part of the "fun" to play with the guts of the pumpkins, but its really not my cup of tea. I was also hoping that it would be cheaper to work with these Funkin pumpkins. Well in the long run down the road, yes it will be. But up front no, no it is not lol. On the other hand my girls and I had fun and it was a learning experience.

I stated out by having the kids draw on paper what they wanted as a face. Then I drew it out on the pumpkins. This one above is mine. Once they were drawn out onto the Funkin pumpkins, I used a hot knife I had on hand to carve the faces. (NOTE: please don't do what I did.... yes I did this in my kitchen. You need a well ventilated area to do this. I did not, and I was paying for it. If we do get to do this again next year, I will be trying to get a dremal tool).

I did one for me and one for each of the girls. Our boy was still a bit lil to help, so I just shared mine with him.

We used School glue and water mixed. Unrolled cotton balls and newspaper. Also a big of jewelry wire i had on hand. Followed by some acrylic paint and outdoor Mod Podge.
